Makeup for African American Skin Tones

African american skintone is basically bronze or dark skin tone. So while discussing makeup for african american skintone, the focus is on makeup for dark skin tone. The only problem that is faced by african american women while choosing makeup is that the shades of makeup becomes very limited when they shop for it. As for fair skin, it becomes easy and almost all the shades go on their skin tone but for dark skin tone, type of makeup, amount of makeup and shade of makeup needs to be considered.

Base makeup for african american skintones

Since the skin tone of african american women is dark, the foundation, loose powder and concealer shade has to be chosen likewise. To match the shade, just apply a bit of each from their respective testers over the wrist and the shade that suits it would suit your face and neck as well. Then for the blush on, the basic shades would do such as deep pink, red and peach.

However keep their shades dark and not light so as to match them with your skin tone.

Eye and lip makeup for african american skin tones

This kind of skin tone gels well with dark shades. So for lipsticks, make correct choices. Stick to deep pinks, blood red, magenta, etc but avoid baby pink, orange, nude shades and natural shades.

For the eye makeup, do not go for smoky eye makeup and do not even make use of much of kajal pencil. Just use liner over the lids and then apply black/ blue mascara.

For the eye shadow, go for brown shade, golden, silver, pinks, blue, pale green, etc. If you wish, you could skip the shadow but in case you are applying it, make sure you do it correctly with the use of eye makeup brushes.

Some of the basic things that should not be forgotten while choosing and applying makeup for african american skintones is that over makeup could ruin your face look. Keep it minimal when it comes to base makeup. Also, use products of good brand as cheap makeup could pose damages to skin.
